This activity introduces linking, which is very exciting and quite important in networks! In fact, hyperlinks are arguably the most important change the internet has brought to written form. Similarly to the Emphasis & Formatting activity, this one asks students to mark-up an excerpt from Bush's Memex piece with links to relevent websites. Link tags are simple to use:
So in order to link to, say, Wikipedia, all you have to do is put "http://www.wikipedia.org" (with quotes) where the example says "link url". Link to Wikipedia!
Another tip is that adding 'target = "top" as a tag attribute will tell the brower to open that link in a new tab when the user clicks it. It would look like this:
