I am also a freak, so, I also get extremely annoyed at things most don't notice, like the way this text is rendered in Chrome. Heck, where's my cleartype!?

This is what butchered an otherwise pretty sans-serif in the text above:

text-shadow:0 0 1px #FFF;

Pretty innocent declaration to cause such a mess huh?

but here's the fix:

text-shadow:0 0 0 transparent, 0 1px 1px #FF0;

And it looks like this :)

You just have to add a shadow at the beggining that has a blur value of zero.

Note however that the shadow itself is generated from text rendered in the ugly method, so it may be innapropriate for effects like this one due to mis-alignment of the glyphs.

However, for big font sizes cleartype looks aliased

And Chrome's anti-alias rendering looks smoother for them.

So it's not a bug, it's a feature :)
