Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Upgrades to items allow players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Typically items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while items with strong bases like eth titans do not vary significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into trinkets, weapons, armor and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or extra effect while the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or gotten from missions and chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the required element or material required for the upgrade to take place.

There are three kinds of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix at the end of the item's name. For instance the addition of the suffix Glyph could transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and replaces the glyphs by a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, except for the inscriptions that can be freely swapped.

Leveling

item upgrades of Exile's upgrade process differs from previous versions in some key ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost for upgrades is increased with each level however the materials required aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the effect of those items, instead of spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

This will allow the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy and it is reset to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade is successful.

Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to be given affixes that boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available is determined by the item's type. For instance an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is placed in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item fails to get to its maximum level The NPC will offer the player the option to transfer it to a different person and then re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours and cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower success rate.

Engineers may utilize a level to measure the height of the building to a known point, like a benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level and then turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high standard of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential part of the game and can increase the damage, strength, or other attributes. It is possible to do this through the menu for items, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be expensive and should only be used in very rare instances.

Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.

In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than others. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more often than others. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This could be good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that increases the item's power by a fixed percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you improve a product, the greater the chance of receiving a unique bonus.

The game also features various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on the same unit. This is a great method to give the character more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the early stages of the game. This is because rerolling could give players a faster route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve higher levels and advance in the game faster.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can be different sizes, contain no elements, or only contain a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or organize information. They are also useful in studying patterns. Sets can be classified in several ways, including by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an extensive selection of set items that can be upgraded. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that offer high defense and set bonuses. However, most upgrades to weapons don't improve the stats of the item when as compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you already have a lot of weapons or armor pieces already.

Certain set items are upgraded for their own unique functions that can be useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them up to the same level with their levels. For instance the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. item upgrading to lower-level items could enhance their defense, and make them more competitive when it comes to damage.

To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on their screen for their character. This will display the item's attributes, along with the required items to upgrade it. For instance the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and armor have a higher trade value when they are fully updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs for spells or weapons and are upgraded to gold is recommended since it will result in a significant improvement in their stats. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this, since its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
